Great video, thanks. These were possibly some of Volvo’s greatest cars of all time. Rightfully considered by some to be the last “true” Volvo, before the Ford takeover.
Ex 1998 S90 owner here, I have many fond memories of my big white Volvo. I bought it for very little money back in 2011 with a known issue, the heater core was leaking. That was a massive job, ended up having it done by the Volvo dealer in CT (SA🇿🇦), because I really wanted it to be done correctly. Once sorted however, the car was excellent to own.
More than plenty fast enough, very good handling (for what it is), powerful brakes, spacious, quiet, and yes exceedingly comfortable ride.
Over here the 960/S90 was very rare, so in traffic it often happened that other drivers would make way for me, assuming it’s some diplomats vehicle.
I ran the car to just over 230K km, at which point it was still functioning perfectly, with everything working down to the little wipers on the headlights. Sold it for a Lexus, no regrets, but I do miss that Volvo, it was quite a special car.

Well done. I changed the heater core in my 1998 V90 a few years ago. A week of hard and difficult work, involving the complete dismantling of the interior - necessary to wash , rinse and dry (in the hot sun) the foam under the carpets.

I still have my Volvo 960 - 1996 model. I purchased in brand new and been with me for all these years despite going through several BMWs and Mercs in between. It is serviced by the same people over the years and they seem to love it and want to buy it off me everytime they see it. I've done 5 trips up and down from Darwin, NT to Adelaide, SA each time 1500 kms per day two days to cover little over 3000kms from Darwin to Adelaide. Not a single problem driving through very lonely, very hot areas, not even a puncture or a cooling issue. Thank you for the video and I was very excited.

What’s that in the God’s / Kings own miles? Mine has 147k miles on the clock and still alive!

Amazing quality and smooth effortless powered cars. If a same era limousine S-class, LS or 7 series is not your thing this is the summum of classic luxury touring.
I'm missing a lot of basic information in this review; the evolution to this model from the 1982 and onwards 760 PRV V6. Also the fact this 3.0 inline 6 development was done side by side with the 2.5 5 cilinder transverse mounted front wheel driven 850 engine. The 960/S90/V90 was also available in a 2.5 6 cilinder version. A lot of the vehicles shown are 940 4 cilinder versions, any Volvo connasseur will see the differences, these are great cars in their own right but should be left out if you're trying to match images with the cars you are reviewing.
I've had a '97 S90 in 437 Sandstone metallic, bought in 2011 with 525.000 km on the odometer. Technical, inside and outside in like new condition but that had cost the previous owner a small fortune during all Volvo dealer maintained years. Paid €1500,- for it because the Volvo dealership didn't see it's appeal to classic Volvo enthousiasts.

Got one! A 94 Mk1 3.0 saloon in “Tropical Green” with a tan leather and light wood interior. I believe it’s the last RHD in his colour & specification in existence. 😁
